We're pretty sure that once this occurs, they aren't really burglars anymore:
- A 70-year-old man says burglars tortured him with a red-hot spoon in his apartment in the old Cabrini-Green neighborhood, and stole the van he uses for his disabled son.
B.T. Gregory told police two men with guns barged into his apartment in the 1300 block of North Cleveland Avenue, near the intersection with Clybourn Avenue and Goethe Street. At the time, Gregory said he had popped out to get his 17-year-old son a snack from a nearby hot dog stand.
The burglars, who were rifling through his possessions when he came home, duct-taped him to a chair at gunpoint and threatened to kill him, he said.
These criminals are borrowing more and more cartel tricks to achieve their ends and it's becoming a bit more common place - or maybe the media is just covering it a bit more? It certainly seems that the vaunted "super predators" so long predicted during the 1990's are finally arriving, albeit 20 years later.
