Two men were shot and a third man beaten in two separate incidents on West Side early Saturday morning, according to police.
In the Little Village neighborhood, a man, age 24, was shot and killed after being beaten during a possible robbery attempt, police said.
The man was found in the street on the 3000 block of West 23rd Street about 3:30 a.m., near an alley between Albany Avenue and Whipple Street.
Another man, age 20, was shot in the head and killed in the 200 block of North Lorel Avenue about 4:40 a.m., police said.
The victim was identified as Matthew Zavala, of the 2100 block of West Monroe Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
