A man fleeing from Chicago police fired shots at officers this morning in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
No one was injured and police did not return fire when it happened about 10:55 a.m. in the 700 block of North Christiana Avenue, according to Chicago Police Department [...].
When officers tried to stop three people suspected of having illegal drugs, one of them ran away, said Andrews. While officers pursued him, he pulled a gun and began firing.
No one was struck by gunfire and officers did not return fire...
The gunman threw the gun onto a roof nearby and police recovered it. Two of the three were arrested.
No one hit, weapon recovered, two in custody. Not a bad days work. But the boldness of these jagoffs shooting at police in broad daylight? Be careful out there.
UPDATE: Shots fired over in 022 overnight at Racine Courts. Not sure if it was "at the police" or "let's fire this gun over here to see if the police run over and let our buddy go since they caught him dirty with a gun" type scenario. Either way, be aware.
