A man was shot by Chicago police this evening after they were summoned to the Hanson Park neighborhood for a domestic-related incident and were confronted by an armed man who refused to drop his gun, officials said.
The shooting happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. on the 2100 block of North Laramie Avenue, police said.
When officers arrived on the block, they were met by a woman who said she had called police after her boyfriend became beligerent [sic] inside their basement apartment after drinking. She also reported to police that the man had a gun, said Patrick Camden, a spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police.
Hey! It's the Orange One! Hi Pat!
And here comes the media bullshit:
The loaded and cocked handgun was recovered at the scene, said Camden.
No police officers were injured.
[...] The victim was shot in the left side of his chest, police said.
Offender, you assholes. Police shot the OFFENDER. The victims are the police officers.
Someday, the media will get this correct, hopefully after one of them is beaten into a bloody pulp during a crime. And hopefully, the officers on scene relate to them that they were battered by a "victim of society" or some other such crap.
UPDATE: The Tribune has now changed the article to read "The man was shot in the left side of his chest..."
He's still an OFFENDER and if he lives, will be charged as such.
Good shooting Officers.
