- A man in his 50s died after being shot Sunday evening in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood just before 6 p.m. in the 6600 block of South Blackstone in what may have been a drive-by shooting, police said. He was the eighth person to be killed in violence in the city this weekend.
The man suffered a gunshot wound to head and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:38 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
A rough count of homicides puts it around 487. That might be subject to change, but 500 is just over the horizon. 515 is a real possibility for the year.
Obviously, McStreetlightMarksman has failed...badly. CompStat is being thoroughly discredited in New York, Milwaukee, Cleveland and other places. Crime isn't down, especially violent crime. The fact that Chicago cannot even guarantee the safety of tourists visiting our town so Rahm can empty their wallets is a statistic to be ashamed of.
