Few than last year, but in light of the shrinking city work force, not surprising:
Fewer Chicago motorists had their cars towed this year than last on the first morning of the city's annual winter parking ban, officials said.
The city's Winter Overnight Parking ban took effect at 3 a.m. City trucks towed 188 vehicles this morning, down from 215 last year, according to the Department of Streets and Sanitation.
City officials have worked much of the week to remind motorists of the annual seasonal ritual that restricts overnight parking on 107 miles of the city’s most critical arterial streets -- regardless of snowfall -- until April 1.
Flurries tonight, but not enough to trigger the 2" parking ban.
