If Rahm is going to carry water and pay the legal bills for Shortshanks, he ought to make every effort to keep the legal fight in house.
Corporation Counsel is more than adequate to represent a former city employee. After all, they defend/represent other employees constantly, right?
But then we recall that Mara Georges wasn't good enough to represent Daley last time he was deposed a few years ago. Did the City Council approve paying for that one? Or was that paid for out of Daley campaign funds? Or maybe a "quid pro quo" somewhere along the line?
If Corp Counsel isn't up to representing the former mayor, perhaps he ought to pay for his own lawyers. Or maybe we all ought to demand high-powered defense attorneys whenever we get sued and have it paid for by Rahm Emanuel.
