Not happy with the ongoing 023 debacle, the media drags up SOS again:
In a federal courtroom last week, the voice of a jailed former city cop could be heard over a speaker-phone.
“This is the 26th extension, your honor, I can tell you.”
It was Jerome Finnigan, a onetime member of the now-disbanded Special Operations Section of the Chicago Police Department, and he was talking about how federal prosecutors asked to postpone indicting him in his criminal case for the 26th time.
Finnigan was speaking on his own behalf in court because after his 2007 arrest, the city has steadfastly refused to cover his court costs in civil cases.
He’s acting as his own lawyer.
So they drag up SOS, throw in a big old helping of Burge, quote Flint Taylor and other plaintiff lawyers and for what? Finnigan isn't costing the city any lawyer fees. We don't even know if the currently filed civil suits name the City as a defendant, seeing as how nothing that SOS was accused of can even remotely be considered as anything but illegal.
So is there even a purpose to this article? Or is it just the regular piling on?
