Officials are attempting to blame this on the heat also, but they're having trouble getting around all the bullet holes:
- Four people are dead and at least 12 others were wounded in overnight shooting incidents in Chicago, police said.
- No one was in custody for any incident and area detectives were investigating.
Reports of another homicide at the 43rd Street beach are in our comment section, but only appears as a "critical condition" in the BreakingNews.com story. Expect that one to be corrected in a bit. That means we've had about three homicides on the beaches already, all due to "heat."
Another commentator relates that Chicago has had 28 murders in 13 days. That's a pretty good clip. Someone should really do something about this since the "cooler by the lake" motto doesn't hold up under all these heat emergencies.
Oh, and Nordstrom and Water Tower report roving bands of shoplifters and battery offenders roaming unchecked throughout the area.
Did we miss anything?
