- Police responding to a burglary in progress shot a man, who then allegedly hit an officer with a car he was driving near the United Center Sunday morning.
Police shot a man about 6:45 a.m. in the 2000 block of West Monroe Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan. Sullivan said the incident occurred as police were responding to a burglary in progress call.
After the officer shot the man, that man then allegedly hit an officer in the leg with the vehicle he was driving, police said.
Even the "slow" districts are seeing a seeming upsurge in attacks on police, especially with vehicles. Be extra careful out there this summer - slow don't mean a thing with a two-thousand pound hunk of metal and plastic bearing down on you.
