Sneed hears the Chicago Police Department, which is battling a recent rise in homicides and violent crime, has new marching orders this weekend.
Provide security for a private wedding!!!!!
How about them apples!
In the midst of a recent homicide spike and prediction of a weekend weather scorcher, Sneed is told somewhere between 100 to 200 police officers will be dispatched to help “secure the perimeter” of a high-profile wedding in Kenwood.
And she stumbles upon at least one high profile misrepresentation:
- “The cops will be pulled from all districts in the city,” said a source. “Overtime will not be involved.”
Really? We must have misread that announcement in the CO Book that specifically said "time-and-one-half" for the Presidential Detail. That must not include the District draw that is sending at least one cop from every district to do traffic control in the area of the wedding. Just a wee bit of shading to the truth here.
And speaking of OT, the Overtime Initiative that began this weekend only managed to get 40 volunteers for 120 spots. That resulted in at least one south side tactical team getting it's days off canceled for the expected weekend upsurge in violence.
