Summer telling us to enjoy what's left:
Thursday’s 75-degree high temperature snapped a run of 80-plus days that have baked Chicago this summer.
Up until Thursday, there had been 44 consecutive days that hit 80 degrees or hotter, according to the National Weather Service.
That fell just short of a record. The longest streak of 80-degree days in Chicago was in 2010, when we had 46 straight days.
Of course, it's difficult to enjoy what comes after summer when you see this coming:
In the preseason opener, the Bears were defeated 31-3 by the Denver Broncos – and there were far more negatives than positives for the home team.
The Bears were sloppier and committed more penalties, drawing criticism from coach Lovie Smith.
And now the NHL is talking "lock-out."
Can the Cubs and Sox save us from an ugly Fall?
