An off-duty Chicago police officer shot and killed a man in west suburban Maywood about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, according to officials.
The officer was driving a motorcycle north on 1st Avenue in Maywood when a 3-year-old girl ran into traffic, Fraternal Order of Police Spokesman Pat Camden said. The officer laid the bike down to avoid hitting the girl head on and skidded to a stop in the street near the intersection of Madison Street and First Avenue.
Someone approached the officer yelling and screaming and the officer identified himself and told the man to calm down, Camden said. The man said he “didn’t give an (expletive)” and punched the officer in the face and another person hit him in the back of the head, Camden said.
The officer hit the ground and was being kicked and punched. He fired his weapon once when he felt he was near losing consciousness, Camden said, hitting and killing a man.
Gee, a three-year-in traffic at 1030 PM?
Cop gets a dislocated shoulder and broken leg, most likely from the accident - he wasn't fleeing the accident by any means, and he gets jumped by the "neighborhood watch" people (or are they folks over there?)
The only fault here is he didn't kill more of the assholes of Mope-rah-ville.
