When the leader goes to jail, the underlings start jockeying for position - and people end up getting killed:
A leader of the New Breeds street gang who authorities said ran a heroin drug market on the city's West Side for nearly a decade has been sentenced to 38 years in federal prison.
Dana Bostic, 33, also known as "Bird" and "Mello," controlled a faction of the New Breeds that sold heroin in a 12-block area near Pulaski Road and Van Buren Street, federal prosecutors said today in a news release.
A thorough investigation resulting in multiple convictions and heavy prison time. Now hopefully, everyone in the gang sees that selling heroin is a dead end proposition and they all take up basket weaving or something just as harmless.
In the meantime, we imagine there will be a couple ambitious persons making life interesting on the west side.
